A new strategic partnership aims at embedding physical movement into everyday teaching and learning across more than 130 private schools in Sharjah. Called “Excel 2026”, the initiative is the result of a collaboration between Sharjah Women’s Sports (SWS) and the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA).
Particular emphasis is placed on early years education, where daily movement patterns play a decisive role in shaping attention, motivation, behaviour, and learning outcomes. By integrating physical movement into classroom practice from Cycle 1 (Grades 1–4), Excel 2026 targets the stage at which foundational habits are formed, positioning movement as a structured educational tool rather than an extracurricular add-on.
The partnership was announced as part of the second International Scientific Sports Conference “Excel 2026” scheduled for February under the theme Integrating Movement into Education, and held within the accompanying programme of the eighth edition of the Arab Women Sports Tournament. The conference is positioned as a delivery platform that extends the impact of sport beyond competition, linking movement, learning, and school wellbeing through a science-led, application-focused approach.
SPEA driving the programme implementation gives the initiative immediate scale and operational reach, connecting Excel 2026 directly with more than 130 private schools across the emirate. Through its regulatory and educational networks, the Authority is facilitating engagement among school leaders, teachers, curriculum specialists, and sports and activities coordinators, ensuring that conference outcomes reach decision-makers and practitioners who can translate them into classroom practice.
Commenting on the collaboration, Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of SWS, said the partnership with the SPEA represents a central pillar of Excel 2026, noting that translating scientific research into measurable impact within schools requires education partners capable of connecting academic insight with practical application.
She added that the partnership ensures conference outcomes reach school environments in a structured way, enabling follow-up and sustained application that move Excel 2026 beyond academic discussion and into measurable educational practice.
Dr.Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of SPEA, said the partnership aligns with the Authority’s commitment to initiatives that strengthen educational quality and promote balance within school environments, highlighting the role of physical movement in improving student health, engagement, and concentration in the classroom.
She added that the Authority will support the participation of relevant educational stakeholders and follow up on the application of conference outcomes in ways that contribute to the development of teaching practices across private schools in the emirate.
